I am so thrilled you’ve stopped by! 

My goal is to help parents raise lifelong readers. I want to help you find books that will WOW your kids so they will discover how FUN reading can be when they escape into a book. 

ABOUT ME

My love for reading began in junior high school reading the Sweet Valley High series, working as a library aide in my school library, and reading the romance books my mother read after she finished reading them. Ever since then, I’ve been a lifelong reader. My favorite genres are fantasy, mystery and suspense, regency historical, and romance. You will always find me carrying around a book, and an audible book playing on my phone.

I came full circle when I received my degree in library science. For the last 20 years, I’ve been lucky enough to spend my days surrounded by books in a high school library. But one thing I’ve noticed since I’ve been at the high school level – not every student likes to read and not every student is reading on grade level. In a world full of television, social media, cellphones and iPad’s, this needs to change. This change can only happen in the home with the help of parents. Encourage your child to pick up a book instead of a device even if it’s only ten minutes a day.  

So let’s do it together, shall we?! Let me help you raise lifelong readers! Here are a few ways to start:

  1. Read to your child every day.
  2. Let them decide what they want to check out from the library or buy from the book store.
  3. Be their reading buddy.
  4. Encourage them to choose books where they can make an emotional connection to the main character.
  5. Set aside 20 minutes every day to read.
  6. Read series books.
  7. Allow them to stop reading a book if they don’t like it.
  8. Non-fiction books, graphic novels, magazines, comic books, and newspapers are allowed!
  9. Don’t give up if you have a struggling reader. They need you the most.
